SOUTH AFRICA LEADS A PEACE INITIATIVE TO UKRAINE AND RUSSIA
President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa managed to get six other African countries to sign up to a peace initiative that he had proposed for solving the Russo-Ukraine conflict.
Accompanying the South African leader on his trip to Europe to present the peace plan were the Presidents of Comoros Islands, Senegal and Zambia. Also tagging along were Prime Minister of Egypt and special envoys representing the Presidents of Uganda and Congo Republic (not to be confused with Democratic Republic of Congo).
Upon landing in Warsaw, Poland, a diplomatic incident broke out between Polish authorities and the South Africans. The Poles blocked armed South African Presidential Bodyguards from disembarking from the aircraft claiming that the South Africans do not have the correct permit to carry the firearms. South Africans say that they have the correct paperwork. To cut a long story short, Cyril Ramphosa calmly disembarked from the plane and went to Kiev by train without any of his bodyguards.
In Kiev, Zelensky was not particularly interested in any peace initiative, which did not simply stipulate that Putin surrender all captured Ukrainian territory and pay reparations. He was also baffled that African leaders would want to visit Russia as well to broach their peace plan. Apparently, Zelensky doesn't understand that for a peace initiative to work, both sides of the conflict need to be consulted.
The Ukrainians also did not pass up an opportunity to put on a show of sounding their air raid sirens and escorting the African leaders into a bomb shelter to give the impression that “the evil Russkies were attacking Kiev with missiles even while African leaders were there to present their peace plan.”
Unfortunately, the South African Presidential spokesman, Mr.Vincent Magwenya, denied that there was any firing of missiles by the Russians, and argued that it was probably “disinformation” to the chagrin of his Ukrainian hosts.
In St Petersburg, the African leaders got a much warmer reception with Putin hugging, shaking hands, and grinning with the visitors who had just arrived from their mission to Kiev.
Putin told the leaders about the March 2022 Peace Talks between Ukraine and Russia held in Turkey, which was scuttled by the governments of UK and USA...
